In a world of 'cognitive dissonance' and 'alternative facts' I muse on the idea of truth in this series of photographic prints. By default, photographs are often considered records of truth/fact. The maxim ‘the camera never lies’ has been around for a long time and much contemporary photography relies on this aspect of the art form.
In this series of photographic prints, I employ many tropes of the genre including alternative angles, decisive moments and print process to challenge this notion of photographic truth. My aim with these images is to encourage the viewer think twice about what they see. There are no lies here and yet the truth is not entirely present either. Perhaps there are correlations here with the wider world we live in today.
