In Echoes of a Solstice, undertakes biannual repeat photography of eight sites along Singapore’s southern coastline, deliberately scheduled on the June and December solstices to anchor a durational documentation of the shoreline
The series tests the hypothesis that a typological approach, held constant through repeated vantage points, can render incremental environmental transformations perceptible over time.
These selected locations coincide with low‑lying zones marked for developing coastal barriers, including areas mentioned in the Urban Redevelopment Authority’s proposed “Long Island” plan (2025), positioning documenting of these sites at the intersection of photographic method, environmental change, and state-led adaptation strategies.
While much of the project focuses on sea structures, turning the camera inland reveals additional layers of environmental data. This includes visible signs of landslides and their long-term impact on adjacent coastlines. Over time, changes in the cliff face at Labrador Park have become more pronounced, terrain shifts subtly, revealing the slow violence of erosion.
