Displaced identity is about the mutual feeling of disconnect that we all at some point suffer from – when our internal world no longer syncs with the outer tangible one and we are left to figure out our fragmented reality.

As individuals, we have a yearning desire for finding relevance in this world. We carry our names and titles with pride and have a deep connection with our land and cultural heritage – all to give meaning to our existence. Displaced identity questions that very existence. It explores the mutual feeling of disconnect that we all at some point suffer from – when our internal world no longer syncs with the outer tangible one and we are left to figure out our fragmented reality.

In this series of photographs, I attempt to show the themes of alienation and visibility while questioning the very ability to become our true selves. I’ve explored this by focusing on the interplay of light and motion and their effect on the sillouettes and shapes observed of both, my subjects and their surroundings. Throughout the series, I reflect on the various facets of human-transition, our uncollective self and the humanity’s urge to belong.
