“CUTS”

On the corner where survival meets community, a street barber sets up shop outside the neighborhood deli, clippers buzzing against the rhythm of the block. This series explores the intimacy of Black fatherhood and the resourcefulness of hustling in New York, where every sidewalk can become a shop and every stoop a stage. It’s a portrait of care and grind, of legacy and nostalgia, evoking the early 2000s hood aesthetic where kids chalk the pavement and fathers carve out time to provide.

Both tender and raw, the work reimagines the ordinary rituals of the block as sacred. The haircut, the laughter, the hopscotch game framing them as cultural archives of resilience and joy
