We live in uncertain times with enormous economic tensions, political uncertainties and climate change. This project focuses on clouds because thinking about climate change, we normally don't think about clouds.

Clouds change. They move higher in the atmosphere and, according to recent research, can disappear completely if the CO2 level is too high. Since the industrial revolution, clouds have been manipulated and even created by humans. Low clouds cool the earth, but high clouds make it warmer. The clouds now appear to be moving toward the poles and higher in the atmosphere. That way they are less effective in cooling the earth. Scientists are investigating, among other things, whether they can grow clouds to help cool the planet.

By creating a bump map based on the contrast in the photo, I show a hidden spatial experience of the photo. It seems as if the photo or part of it breaks open and shows what lives inside. This way a new truth is created that might br a surreal representation of the pain our world feels.

This work in progress cloud project examines the extent to which it is possible to recreate or regenerate the information captured in the flat photo; to grow clouds out of the picture. But also to hear how the photo is represented in sound and how a cloud photo looks like 3D printed as a ceramic vase and how they might morph.
