An Invisible conversation with an Egyptian youth who shows their free and healthy spirit against the constraints of their living environment

In December 2023, I had an unique, invisible conversation with Mahmoud, a young Egyptian, transcending conventional barriers like language and cultural unfamiliarity. This interaction allowed me a direct insight into the mindset of Egypt's youth, who balance a fascination with modernity and technology against the weight of traditional practices, like the restriction on women's public visibility. Photography builds a bridge to their lives, revealing a generation both bound by Siwa's limited socio-economic conditions and resiliently upholding their inherent freedom and optimism. Despite these, they creatively challenge their surroundings, embodying a blend of innovation and tradition unique to their generation.
