ALAMEDA GALLERY ARTISTS

In my city there is a market place called “ Alameda Gallery”, It is kind a “ surrealist” place where you can get fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, herbs, , etc. With this project I want to honor the work of these people that I consider very valuable.

I live in Colombia, SouthAmerica and my home city is called Cali. It is a tropical city with a hot climate. Its population is the historical result of the mixture of all the races that coincided in this land: white Spanish, African black slaves, and the indigenous people who originally lived here.

In my city there is a market place called “ Alameda Gallery”. It is an almost “ surrealist” place. A unique mixture of colors, smells and flavors. There you can get everything: fruits, vegetables, meat, coffee, flowers, fish, dairy products, medicinal herbs, crafts, esoteric items, etc. The sellers are simple, humble people.

Portraiture is my great passion in photography and I have been working on this project for several months. So far I have photographed 22 people, of which I have selected 10 to participate in this contest.

Personally, I think that the excess of visual effects currently used in photography has diminished our capacity for wonder. I intend to amaze with images of real human beings in their daily lives.
