i. EGYPT NOW!

Everyday sights in Egypt while running errands. It's a Beautiful Chaos but if you go sit by the Nile River in Zamalek during Sunset, you can try to hold in the stillness & peace the River within you, while trying to listen to one blink of silence in the distance. Between the cars honking and street vendors, you probably won't. Yet-We will simply keep living, without hesitation. As shown in these photos.

ii. BOYS LOVE.

Love in Egypt is shown with everyone. These photos show two friends (Shehab & Lamar), purely and authentically, without fear to express love to each other.

iii. PLAYBOI MAADI

I was sitting on my laptop outside a cafe. While working a boy came up to me asking for money. I didn't have cash so he started talking to me about my film camera and my colored pens. He asked me to write a name for him on his arm like a tattoo. He said a girls name (DENA) and I started laughing, he looked at me, got shy and smiled. Then he asked me to add an "alb" (heart) next to it and asked for a picture. After that, every time he saw me in that cafe or walking in the streets he came up to me to "tattoo" another girls name to his arm. This boy was walking around with all these names on him, so that's how he got the name 'playboi maadi' (Maadi is a city in Cairo, Egypt).

iv. إسمها (ESMEHA– her name)

Set in Cairo, Egypt, a Woman explores the concept of a name and how she could never identify with hers, when a man asks her– "Essmek eh" (what's your name?). It's not just about a name, but about believing in something without fully understanding, seeing or hearing it. The film contradicts, yet confirms the meaning of her given name without ever answering the man's question.
