160 is a visual project by Aseel Swaid documenting a 160-kilometer journey in Yemen. Each image is marked by speed at capture, where motion dissolves place and detail, and the camera becomes a third eye preserving fleeting moments.
160
is a visual project by photojournalist and visual artist Aseel Swaid, created during a journey covering a distance of 160 kilometers. Each image is assigned a number indicating the car’s speed at the moment of capture, as an attempt to document the scene with a stark realism, as it appears in fleeting moments. Details dissolve, and at 160, speed reshapes the scene: no place names, no fixed features—only continuous motion. A scene that passes before the eye can fully grasp it, yet the camera, as a third eye perhaps, captures it first.
The project documents the journey not as a map, but as a moving visual experience, where the camera functions as a third eye, recording what the human eye fails to perceive in the moment of passage, leaving a trace of what moves quickly… yet does not disappear.
