A powerful tribute by Veronica Barbato to her sister Mary, who took her own life after struggling with addiction. Through street art, and photography Veronica gives Mary a second life, turning her into an icon and a symbol of resilience. Love never ends.
The 1980s—retreat, armed struggle, heroin. Telling the story of social unrest, rebellion, drugs, and freedom. This is the story of Mary, a young woman who, at 23, took her own life after a period of drug addiction. Her sister, Veronica, is now giving her a second life through the language and dimension of street art, allowing her to travel the world in a way she never had the chance to.
Veronica launched a communication campaign through public posters to turn Mary into an icon, bearing witness to the fundamental role of art in shaping perception. She created a photographic exhibition "on the road," where vivid colors represent hallucinations, phrases from Mary's secret diaries give voice to her thoughts, and glitter symbolizes the false illusion of drugs.
What began on the streets has now found its way into the pages of a book—a form of social redemption that transforms Mary into the protagonist of a new life. She is no longer a nobody; she has become a sister to many. For Veronica, childhood never lost its magic with Mary, nor did it ever escape its tragedy. Love does not end—love always wins.
