Fotofest 2016 Biennial (Houston, Texas, US) March 12 - April

In this 16th edition of the International Biennial of Photography and Mixed Media Arts, the work of over 30 leading photographers will feature in a set of exhibitions that will take as their theme: ‘Changing Circumstances: Looking at the Future of the Planet.’ The artists on display together draw attention to such current issues as climate change, industrialization, the use of natural resources, and human migration. Primary exhibitors include Daniel Beltrá, Edward Burtynsky, Pedro David, Vik Muniz, and Joel Sartore. To accompany these shows, Fotofest has organised a collection of presentations, tours, concerts, talks, and a specially designed school curriculum in order to encourage discussion and dialogue on the relationship between man and nature.

Yangon Photo Festival (Yangon, Myanmar) March 12 - 3

With the backing of Burmese Nobel Peace Prize winner Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, Yangon Photo Festival is emerging as a significant cultural event in the region of south-east Asia. Now in its 8th year, this festival provides local photographers with an opportunity to show the realities facing their country in the twenty-first century, while simultaneously keeping a space for the diffusion of work related to international affairs. Principal attractions this year include the travelling World Press Photo exhibition, and the 50th anniversary show of renowned photo agency GAMMA.

Festival de Fotografia de Tiradentes (Tiradentes, Brazil) March 9 -13

Festival de Fotografia de Tiradentes is committed to the dissemination of local Brazilian photography, and it has at its core the desire to discover the work of emerging talents. Over the course of a long weekend, the city of Tiradentes will play host to several exhibitions, workshops, portfolio reviews, and lectures that aim to provide the public with a platform from which they can consider the greater social and cultural circumstances in which we live.

Fotofestival Knokke-Heist (Knokke-Heist, Belgium) March 20 - May 8

The Belgian coastal town of Knokke Heist is set to launch its 3rd bi-annual photography festival. For 7 weeks between March and May, more than 20 contemporary photographers will showcase their work in a number of indoor exhibitions and large scale outdoor installations.
