PhMuseum Photobook Award, PhEST Pop-Up Open Call, PhotoVogue Global Open Call, Deloitte's Photo Grant, Carte Blanche Students, PhotoVogue's Regional Open Call, and Open Panoràmic are among the opportunities we selected this month.

PhMuseum 2025 Photobook Award

Early Bird deadline 5 June / Entry fee €24

The PhMuseum Photobook Award is a biennial initiative meant to support photography publishing. Through this 1st edition, a project will be selected to be published by PhMuseum, who will cover production and distribution costs. The book will have a minimum print run of 500 copies, with 50 copies and 5% of royalties destined to the author. The main partner of this edition is MPB, Europe’s top camera reseller, who will further identify an author for their Special Mention, granting a €800 voucher to spend on their platform.

The main prize recipient will be announced at Photobook Mania 2025 on 18-19 October in Bologna, Italy, and up to 30 finalist projects will be exhibited during the event. The work will be curated by PhMuseum Artistic Director Giuseppe Oliverio and Visual Editor Camilla Marrese across editing, design, and production. It will be printed by Summer 2026, and presented at PhMuseum Days 2026 International Photography Festival in Bologna, Italy. Co-publishing opportunities are also an option, which will be considered on a case by case basis.

The jury is composed of Max Pinckers (Photographer), Yumi Goto (Independent Curator and Publisher), Karla Hiraldo Voleau (Photographer), Giuseppe Oliverio (PhMuseum Founding and Artistic Director), and Camilla Marrese (PhMuseum Visual Editor).

PhEST Pop-Up Open Call 2025

Deadline 2 June / No entry fee

PhEST's 5th edition, centered on the theme This Is Us - A Capsule To Space, invites artists to explore humanity's relationship with time, memory, and the future. It welcomes intense, intimate, and profound visual expressions across any medium, including photography, painting, sculpture, installation, and video, to imagine what testament of our existence should be sent into space. Five prizes will be awarded, including an exhibition at the PhEST 2025 festival opening on August 8th in Monopoli, Italy. A participant residing in Puglia, Italy, will receive the San Marzano Award, including an exhibition at the festival. Additionally, Fujifilm Italia will award a Fujifilm Camera X-T50 black /XC15-45mm Kit worth € 1.679. Selected artists will also be featured in publications on PhMuseum and LensCulture.

The jury is composed of Arianna Rinaldo (Curator of Photography at PhEST), Giovanni Troilo (Artistic Director at PhEST), Giuseppe Oliverio (Founding and Artistic Director at PhMuseum), and Jim Casper (Editor-in-Chief of LensCulture).

PhotoVogue Global Open Call 2025

Deadline 1 June / No entry fee

PhotoVogue invites women photographers and video makers from around the world to explore and redefine how women see and are seen. Celebrating diverse and self-determined perspectives across all genres—from fashion to documentary, portraiture, fine art, and beyond—the open call champions visual storytelling as a powerful force for representation, empowerment, and change. Three selected artists will receive a total of $12,000 in grants consisting of the Outstanding Vision Grant ($6,000 grant for an artist pushing creative boundaries), the Vision Grant ($4,000 for an artist with a compelling and unique perspective), and the Rising Voice Grant (a $2,000 cash prize to an emerging artist showing originality and promise). Plus, selected artists will be showcased at the next edition of the PhotoVogue Festival, have the opportunity to be published in Vogue editions worldwide, and be selected to participate in the next PhotoVogue Virtual Portfolio Reviews.

PhotoVogue's Regional Open Call: East And Southeast Asian Panorama

Deadline 25 June / No entry fee

Photographers and videomakers from East and Southeast Asia and their diaspora (including Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam) are welcome to submit their work with no genre restrictions – from fashion to documentary, art, and reportage. A portfolio of the best submissions will be featured across Vogue's global network, with selected artists potentially collaborating on editorial projects. Selected works will be displayed at the next edition of the PhotoVogue Festival. Additionally, three grants totaling $8,000 will be awarded: the Outstanding Vision Grant ($4,500), the Vision Grant ($2,000), and the Rising Voice Grant ($1,500).

Deloitte's Photo Grant 2025

Deadline 30 June / No entry fee

The 2025 Deloitte's Photo Grant invites amateur and professional photographers under 35 to submit their work exploring the stark disparities between equality and inequality in contemporary society. The theme Contrast is not limited to economic disparities alone but extends its scope to include the spectrum of civil rights. In this regard, the Deloitte’s Photo Grant aims to visually document the daily struggles for human rights while also rejecting all forms of discrimination. Through the language of photography, the initiative seeks to give a voice to those who are often unheard, creating the conditions for an open and free space for dialogue—where images can play a fundamental role in fostering a meaningful conversation on an urgent and relevant issue.

One selected project will receive a mention in the Triennale exhibition for the Nomination Section winner and €20,000 to execute the project, culminating in an exhibition of up to 30 works in the next award edition. The jury includes experts such as Denis Curti, Guido Borsani, Davide Monteleone, Erik Kessels, Diane Dufour, Felix Hoffmann, George Tatge, Giovanna Calvenzi, Mario Calabresi, and Karin Kaufmann.

Carte Blanche Students 2025

Deadline 10 June / No entry fee

A collaboration between Paris Photo, Picto Foundation, and SNCF Gares & Connexions, the Carte Blanche Students program is currently accepting applications from bachelor's and master's photography and visual arts students across Europe. This initiative aims to support emerging talent by providing a platform for their work. A professional jury will select 20 finalists, and four artists will have their work exhibited at Paris Photo and a major Parisian train station, in partnership with Hahnemühle and the support of la Saif & La Copie Privée. Additionally, one of the four chosen artists will receive the Saif Carte Blanche Students grant to fund a project.

Open Panoràmic 2025

Deadline 1 June / No entry fee

Directed by Joan Fontcuberta, Laia Casanova, and Albert Gusi, the festival offers a dynamic space for exploring the expanded field of visual arts through various mediums, from film screenings and video installations to interactive projects and exhibitions. This year's theme, Pause. To A New Visual Order, invites reflection on the transformative changes of the 21st century and their impact on visual culture. Artists are encouraged to submit projects in Still Image, Audiovisual Essay, and Other Formats. Finalists will receive a €400 fee and inclusion in an exhibition at Espai d’Arts, Roca Umbert Fàbrica de les Arts in Granollers. Plus, one project per category will be awarded a €1,000 prize.

PhMuseum Education Program 2025/26

Deadline 5 June / No entry fee

PhMuseum's educational program is dedicated to providing a comprehensive learning experience for all participants, emphasizing quality teaching while alternating practice with theory. Each masterclass is tailored to meet the needs of contemporary photographers, artists, curators, and storytellers looking to cater to specific areas of the visual language, from research and critical thinking to photobook making and exhibition design.

Participants can get the chance to develop their projects, curatorial skills, and photobook dummies working with Laura El-Tantawy and Elisa Medde (CRITICAE Masterclass On Documentary Photography), Erik Kessels (CURAE Masterclass On Curatorial Practice), Nicolas Polli (Ciao Press, FOLIO Masterclass On Photobook Making), Adam Broomberg (IDEA Masterclass On Conceptual Thinking), and Salvatore Vitale (MEDIAE Masterclass on Transmedia Storytelling). Applicants need to send a motivational paragraph that addresses why they need it and how they can benefit from attending the program.

Other Deadlines

Premio Publicación Latinoamericano 2025 / Deadline 22 June / No entry fee

Editorial La Luminosa and FELIFA are inviting Latin American authors to submit photography book projects for a chance to have their work published. The winning book will be produced in an edition of 300 copies by Akian Gráfica Editora, with the author receiving 50 copies as royalty. Finalist dummies will be exhibited during the 2025 edition of the festival and included in its Digital Library. The jury is composed of Laura Carbonell, Rodrigo Gómez Rovira, and Anibal Mangoni.

Hariban Award - International Collotype Competition 2025 / Deadline 15 June / Entry fee €37

Presented by Benrido and launched in 2014, the Hariban Award combines the 170-year-old analog technique of the collotype with contemporary photography. One artist will be awarded a two-week residency in October 2025 in Kyoto, Japan, where they will collaborate with the Master Printer of the Benrido Collotype Atelier. Working closely with printers, they will produce eight collotype prints to be exhibited in a solo exhibition held in the spring of the following year and will be included in the official catalogue of the Hariban Award, to be published in April 2026. In addition, an artist talk and social event will be held with Benrido’s staff and craftspeople. Flights, accommodation, and production expenses will be provided by Benrido.

VAiF Portfolio Open Call / Deadline 14 June / No entry fee

The second edition of the Visual Arts International Festival (VAIF) hosts a wide range of events, such as photography, graphic design, and book exhibitions, as well as workshops and talks by renowned artists and professionals in the field. Selected portfolios will be presented in the group exhibition in Thessaloniki as part of the second Visual Arts International Festival – VAiF25. The jury will consist of Stergios Karavatos (Independent Curator), Stefanos Kesidis (Artistic Director, Organizer of VAiF), Anastasia Markidou (Associate Professor, Director of the "FEM" Postgraduate Studies Program), and Manolis Skoufias (Director of Studies, ESP+).
