FORMAT23 Open Call, Meitar Award for Excellence in Photography, and InCadaqués Photo Festival Open Call are part of the list of opportunities that will help you boost your career through cash prizes and more.

FORMAT23: Open Call / Early Bird Deadline 1 August / Entry Fee €18

FORMAT International Photography Festival was established in 2004 and has become the UK's leading events of photography and related media. The orgazionation is open for submissions, welcoming diverse proposals from international entities that can represent the state of photography today, including photographers, curators, collectives and artists. The early bird deadline is 1 August (entry fee €18), but the open call will remain open until 31 August (entry fee €23).

The selected entries will be granted the chance to exhibit at FORMAT23 and to receive one of the festival's awards, including cash prizes of up to £2000, production of works, exhibitions abroad, exposure and portfolio reviews. Everyone who applies will receive visibility with the FORMAT curators and the opportunity to be featured on the FORMAT Festival curated Instagram feed.

The Jury will select up to 20 projects that encompass the zeitgeist of the here and now, past, present and future. Among the jurors Azu Nwagbogu, Alessia Glaviano, Suzanne Tromp and Wang Peiquan. To find out how to participate visit their website.

Meitar Award for Excellence in Photography / Deadline 18 July / Entry Fee $54

The Meitar Award for Excellence in photography is a collaboration between PHOTO IS:RAEL and the Zvi and Ofra Meitar Family Fund. 

An international jury will select 20 finalist projects which will be displayed at International Photography Festival in November 2022 in Tel-Aviv. The winner will be announced in November and will receive a $14,000 grant, composed of a personal grant of $2,500, curatorial guidance, and the production of a solo exhibition that will be part of the 2023 International Photography Festival. The judging panel will award a photographer who demonstrates thought, quality, originality, and excellence in photography, as well as the potential to create a comprehensive body of work suitable for publication as a book.

Applicants may submit between 6 and 12 images, and there is a limit of one entry per person. There is a registration fee of $54. All photographers at all stages of their careers are welcome to apply, there are no nationality or age restrictions. Find out further details on their website

InCadaqués International Photo Festival 2022 / Deadline 15 July / Entry Fee € 22

InCadaqués International Photo Festival 2022 takes place in the Spanish village of Cadaqués, which finds itself shielded by the surrounding mountain range at the heart of the protected natural park of Cabo Creus in Catalonia. It will happen from September 29 until October 9, with the open call accepting submissions until the 15th of July. 

This 6th Edition offers a first prize that consists of a selection of 10/15 photographs whose work will be exhibited at the Festival. Plus, a second prize is offered to 14 runners-up, from which 3 images per author will be selected and exhibited during the festival. 

This year the jury is composed of professionals from the international visual arts community, such as Valmont Achalme, President of the Festival, Giuseppe Oliverio, Founder and Director of PHmuseum (Italy), François Bouchara Head of Granon Digital (France), and Photographer agent Tiggy Maconochie (UK). BBA Photography Prize / Deadline 2 August / Free to Entry  

The BBA Photography Prize is open to all international photographers above 18 years of age. You can submit up to 15 images, all themes are welcome, and submissions are open until 2 August. 

The call offers a 1st prize of € 1500 and a solo show at BBA Gallery artsy profile; a 2nd prize of € 1000 plus an Artsy profile; and a 3rd prize of € 700. Moreover, the One-Shot Award offers a cash prize of € 500, and the People’s Choice Award grants € 500 and an artsy profile. Furthermore, this year the jury selection from Berlin Photo Week will be selecting works independently from this year's Photography Prize Submissions in their event. All the shortlisted photographers will be having an exhibition at Kühlhaus Berlin. 

This year the BBA jury is formed by international photography professionals such as photographer Julia Fullerton-Batten, Managing director of Eyes on Vienna Thomas Licek, and photographer and professor Kristian Skeie. To find out how to submit your work visit their website

PX3 Prix De La Photographie De Paris / Deadline 25 July / Entry Fee from $20 

The "Prix de la Photographie, Paris" (PX3) strives to promote the appreciation of photography, discover emerging talent, and introduce photographers from around the world to the artistic community of Paris. 

They have several awards open for submissions; PX3 Photographer of the Year (Professional) - $5,000 cash prize. PX3 Best New Talent (Non-professionals and Students) - $2,000 cash prize. Moreover, among the 8 categories open for submissions they will be awarding First Place Category Winners for both professionals and students  - $500 and $250 cash prizes respectively.

Aside from the cash prizes, the PX3 will award several Honorable Mentions to both the professional and non-professional categories. The prize pool includes a winners exhibition in Paris, international publicity, and features on the PX3 Annual Book. To find out how to participate visit their website.

Passepartout Photo Prize / Deadline 04 Jul / Entry Fee € 22 

Passepartout Photo Prize aims to support the development of talented photographers from all over the world by awarding 1,000 euros in monetary prizes every year, organizing exhibitions in a fine art gallery in the heart of Rome, publishing annual catalogues, and providing other opportunities for emerging artists.  The collective exhibition will take place in 2023 to find out how to participate visit their website

Portrait of Humanity Awards / Deadline 14 July / Entry Fee from $15

Portrait of Humanity is a photography award, focused on unifying the global community, and therefore it's open internationally. Up to 30 images will be part of a touring exhibition, 200 shortlisted images will become part of their photobook, and furthermore, they offer international digital and print media coverage. Judges from past years include Alessandra Sanguinetti and Newsha Tavakolian, Magnum photographers; Fiona Shields, Head of Photography at the Guardian, and Mallory Benedict, Photo Editor at National Geographic. Ian Parry Scholarship / Deadline 15 July / Free to Entry 

The Ian Parry Scholarship is divided into two categories: The Tom Stoddart Award for Excellence and The Canon Award for Potential. Each winner will receive $3,500 for their chosen project. Canon continues to support the Scholarship and loan equipment to the winners. Furthermore, both winners will have the opportunity to take part in the Transmissions Programme at Visa Pour L’Image in Perpignan. ProfiFoto New Talent Award / Deadline 18 July / Free to Entry 


The ProfiFoto New Talent Awards are powered by Canon, the jury of experts will select up to five projects, that will receive cash prizes totalling € 3,000 (1st place € 1,500, 2nd place € 1,000, 3rd place € 500 ). In early 2023 the three best works from the total of ten winning works will also be selected to be published in ProfiFoto and be part of group exhibitions.
