Kranj Foto Fest 2024

Kranj Foto Fest is an annual festival of contemporary photography that was established in 2021 with the goal of transforming Kranj, Slovenia, into the epicenter of photography in this part of Europe.

Overview

Created with the goal of exhibiting, promoting, supporting and developing the works of Slovenian and international artists and building a strong and lasting platform for contemporary photography, the festival, co-founded by Fernanda Prado Verčič and Petra Puhar Kejžar, aims to bring together emerging and established photographers from all over the world. It transforms the town of Kranj into an exciting hub of contemporary photography in this part of Europe.

Having a remarkable historical context as a backdrop, Kranj Foto Fest has been created to celebrate photography and its larger significance. It represents a platform for dialogue between photographers, students, curators, educators, photo enthusiasts, and the local community.

Exhibited artists include Ana Zibelnik and Jakob Ganslmeier, Farzana Akhtar, Marta Bogdańska, Jordi Ruiz Cirera, Luciana Demichelis, Imane Djamil, Ismail Ferdous, Blaž Gutman, Issam Larkat, Diambra Mariani, Karim Mottaghi, Chidinma Nnorom, Matthieu Paley, Andrés Pérez, Valentina Piccinni and Jean-Marc Caimi, Jaka Teršek, Marcel Top, Marieke van der Velden and Philip Brink, Kinga Wrona and Amin Yousefi.

Among the events is an evening projection including a screening of the 34 shortlisted PhMuseum 2024 Photography Grant projects.

In addition, workshops include Photochemistry, Darkroom Basics And The Contemporary Photograph As An Object with Kela, and Visual Narration: How To Sequence Your Story To Create An Inspiring Photobook with Blow Up Press.
