Good photographs rarely emerge in isolation. They need time, dialogue, trust and the freedom to experiment.

Founded in 2012 by photographers Margot Wallard and JH Engström, Atelier Smedsby is a one-year international mentorship designed for photographers committed to developing long-term personal projects.

Rather than teaching techniques, we accompany each participant in strengthening their visual language through critical dialogue, editing, sequencing and sustained artistic exchange.

The programme combines three in-person seminars in France with monthly online meetings and individual mentoring throughout the year. Limited to twelve participants, it creates an intimate and committed community where projects can evolve over time.

Participants come from a wide range of backgrounds and levels of experience, but share the same desire: to deepen their practice and build meaningful photographic work.

Programme fee: €3,900 There is no application fee.
