Each issue is central to a specific theme and provides a gallery of inspiring imagery, focusing on each artist with their own experience to share. With an eye towards beauty, quality and novelty, they strive to promote portfolios that stand out for their unique visual signature style and character. Their goal is to help photographers get the exposure they deserve and to inspire others with ideas, projects and goals to help develop their own photography.

Practical Info

Mysterious, magical, intense, timeless, sometimes nostalgic: mastering the shadows in photography is an art in itself. It is a story in its own right, a unique form of expression. This 56th edition of AAP Magazine encourages photographers to capture the poetry and the power of shadows. The subject is completely open. Your photos can be in color or black and white, and be landscape, portraiture, street photography or any other genre. Any capture method or process, whether digital or analog, including monochromatic toning, is welcome. The award is open to professional and amateur photographers from all over the world who are invited to send up to 40 images. You can take advantage of the Early Bird Deadline due on 19 March.

1st place winner will receive a cash prize of $500 and will have a full portfolio published in AAP Magazine Volume 56: Shadows; 2nd place winner will receive a cash prize of $300; and 3rd place winner will receive a cash prize of $200. The next twenty-three winners (ranked from 4 to 25) will have their best image(s) or portfolio featured in AAP Magazine Volume 56: Shadows.
