In the conflict zones of Burma, also known as Myanmar, teams of volunteers are fully committed in reporting human rights violations and helping internally displaced persons (IDP’s). They call themselves: the Free Burma Rangers (FBR).

Free Burma Rangers (FBR) was formed in the late 1990s following the Burma Army offensive of 1997. Since then teams of men and women are trained for the FBR missions. Teams avoid contact with the Burma Army and operate under the protection of ethnic resistance armies.

Missions provide emergency medical care, shelter, food, clothing and any other humanitarian relief IDP’s need. In addition teams are trained to obtain evidence of military violence and human rights abuse interviewing people and documenting Burma Army activities.
