All of us create our own way of revealing ourselves to the people around us as a way to declare the principles we form in our bodies. Balnearios is a wager to celebrate the most uninhibited condition of the body, when we are most free and most conscious of being exposed to the gaze of others; when we put aside any kind of judgment: when geography, age, climate, society, and culture no longer matter. The intention is to honor the other, praising the way in which a body shines, without using any filters. Balnearios seeks to recover those forms, exhibit them, and allow us to wear them as a second layer for our own bodies, so that we can create a dialogue in which there are no judgments about anyone else, only the certainty of belief with which we declare that all appropriations of the body are as universal as the human body itself —and that there shouldn't be any rules to restrict them, only rules to appreciate them.
“Balnearios” is a collection of more than 250 photographs that emerge as the result of an exploration across 41 destinations in 14 countries around the world. It is a search for people who share the same aesthetic: the spontaneity to show the human body without prejudice in settings where we find ourselves most exposed to the gaze of another. Bodies that, intentionally or not, can represent a transgression of every traditional esthetic rule governing beauty.
