Our guide to photography festivals is a quick overview on photography events beyond the web. This month we introduce you to Circulation(s) and Exposure Photography Festival.
Circulation(s) – Festival de la jeune photographie européenne (Paris, France) I January 24 - March 8
The Circulation(s) festival is dedicated to the European photographic diversity and it aims to discover new talents. Since its creation in 2011, more than 225 artists have been exposed and the festival welcomed about 175 000 visitors. As every year, the programme is built around a selection of 20 artists chosen through an international call, with the support of The Library Project Gallery (Ireland) and ECAL (L’École cantonale d’art de Lausanne).
Exposure Photography Festival (Calgary/Banff/Canmore, Canada) I February
The Exposure Photography Festival is a registered non-profit society established in 2004 to encourage the participation in, examination of, and appreciation for the medium of photography. It is dedicated to engaging multiple audiences’ interests in photography including beginners, amateurs and professionals through participation in, and access to dialogue about photography as a rich art form. The festival organises a prize called Exposure Emerging Photographer Showcase. This years first, second and third prizes have been awarded respectively to Philip Kanwischer, Elizabeth Hak and Katy Whitt.
