After a tenth edition marked by celebration and appreciation, Art Photo Bcn is restarting the machinery for a new date with photography in 2024.
Overview
For the eleventh edition Art Photo Bcn returns to spring, the place in the calendar that gave it its meaning and beginning in 2014 and which aims to revive the spirit of the Primavera Fotográfica in Barcelona through diverse activities that promote the importance of photography and the image in the current circuit. The key dates will be from 6 to 9 June and the central venue, for the third year the Disseny Hub Barcelona, this time in room A with more space and more direct and visible access. The main part of an edition that aims to consolidate its fair, photobook market and portfolio review, as well as an interesting programme of open activities to promote knowledge of the photographic circuit, will take place at this central venue.
Photobook Market is the section specialising in the book format at Art Photo Bcn, curated for the second time by Ana Benavent, who will be in charge of evaluating the proposals received through the open call for entries and will energise the event with a series of tours and recommendations for the public, making this section a point of interest and knowledge to explore the photobook in greater depth. An essential meeting point to promote and give prominence to both small and independent publishers and labels, as well as established publishers, shops and distributors specialising in photobooks. The photobook market will be complemented by presentations and activities organised in parallel, as well as a variety of dynamic activities, guided tours and round tables that will allow the public to see and enjoy the products presented by their protagonists.
With the fresh format of a specialised fair and reduced to 20 exhibitors, Art Photo Bcn proposes an event that will bring photographers’ work to the general public in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. For the third consecutive year, the fair will be curated by Vicenç Boned, who will study each proposal and its suitability to offer an overview of the situation of the photographic medium. Of particular importance for this tenth edition is the collectors’ programme coordinated by Moritz Neumüller in collaboration with various national and international entities to create a meeting point for collectors, galleries and creators, as well as activities to make public and private collections visible.
