Paisajes para el fin de la existencia (Landscapes for the End of the Existence), 2012- , is a series of abstract landscapes inspired upon the concept of death. Xtabay Alderete explores the landscape with a feeling of loss, searching for ephemeral and volatile symbols that suggest a subtle mystery. She uses different models to intervene the landscape where photography works not only as a record of the sculptural exercise but as a medium to shape the space. Alderete says " I'm interested in the idea of death as an inevitable fact of life, as something that belongs to it. Its presence in the tactile world unsettles and guides us to interpret reality, as a way of perceiving and constructing beauty."
