AKT

In my project entitled AKT, which I have been working on since 2015, I explore and name my “private heritage.” Both the primal, biological one and that I have been given by the outside world. It is a tale about a rebirth, and sometimes a cruel modern fairytale evoking primary memories that reach to the essence of humanity. By reducing and simplifying the images, I create a universal story, bringing in my own personal experiences. This allows me to build a meta-fairytale that describes man in relation to the surrounding reality, both the archetypal one and the personal, individualised one. I investigate whether creativity can become a form of self-portrait that evolves over time. And whether the message that flows from creative work can get beyond individual experiences and become a timeless, even mythical story.
