The project “A method for drawing emotions” proposes the deconstruction of a portrait in the physical and symbolic sense.
Starting from several copies of a single self-portrait printed on fabric and hardened with resin, I propose the creation of a photograph/sculpture in which I manipulate my own face creating and freezing different expressions. A fluid exercise that reflects the construction and search about IDENTITY.
The title of the project refers to "Conference sur l'expression des passions" carried out in 1751 by the French artist and theorist Charles Le Brun, which aims to create a manual (with texts and drawings) for passion, through the positioning of the eyes , mouth, cheekbone and eyebrows.
The LGBQTI+ flags, that are integrated with the self-portraits, are from a series of sculptures that do the action of "raising the banner", in response to the phrase that was said to me in my adolescence: "it's okay to be gay, you just don't need to raise the banner."
The work seeks to propose a particular reading on transformation, representation, trance, subversion of form, repetition, difference and freedom.
