Humanity Called Their Exploits Immortal

"Humanity Called Their Exploits Immortal" is an ongoing series of three-dimensional collages made from photographs of architectural details and monuments, shot in Eastern Ukraine. The photographs are mounted on sheets of rusted iron and covered in transparent epoxy resin. Red and black geometric laser-cut forms in plexiglass, inspired by Soviet propaganda posters of the 1920’s and 30’s, partially obscure the photographs. Frozen in the resin like insects in amber, separated from their original slogans, the forms hint at codes whose meaning escapes us. Through a play of reflections and transparency, the sculptures change depending on the viewers' position, questioning our ambiguous relationship to past utopian experiments.
