Sana (Spanish for Heal) is a photographic series reflecting the «non-memory» of Peruvian society after the internal armed conflict that Peru experienced between 1980 and 2000.

Presumably, there is no moment in our past – immediate or not – where we would have been reconciled as a society; therefore, we understand that we lack that collective sense that seeks to strive for a common good that benefits us all. As a consequence, we have been hit, and we have suffered as a collective as a Nation. However, it is undeniable that those who suffered the most due to the armed struggle – whether on the part of the terrorists or the military – were the peasants, murdered and outraged in the rural areas of the Andes and the Amazon.

The Sana series seeks to get closer to the earth. The photographic representation of ancient plants used in traditional medicine proposes a subtle and symbolic reading about the «healing of the wounds» native Peru suffered in the 80s and 90s.
