"Wonderlust"

[..The desire to be in a constant state of wonderment..]

Photography/digital art

What is real?

All images that we see have been manipulated in some way, whether it is advertisements, or the news, or the selfies on social media.

In response, I have chosen to make digital collages, composed of purely self-photographed images.

In this way I create a new reality with photograps.

The craving for perfection

By completely bending the images to my will I am trying to create a form of perfection, repetition also plays a big part in this.

But I still leave the obvious behind: The perfectioning of the body. It is what it is, not manipulated, with goosebumps or band aids.

Perfection through imperfection.

Who is real?

My faceless selfportraits also are a response to the way we present ourselfs on social media and the selfie-culture.

By creating an improved/perfect version of ourself we give others an alienated image of ourself.

The surrealistic selfportraits give an image of what moves me, inspires me and keeps me busy, and probably say way more about me than a perfected selfie.

This is the result of a long-term project. The idea already existed back in 2013. From that time I have gathered inspiration, collected objects, searched for locations, made photographs, and combined the individual images.

Slowly the project started to take shape and images grew, but sometimes they also changed completely to find the right tone.
