Vi Femina

VI FEMINA.

17 women - each and every one exposed and fragile, strong and natural with calm, closeness, strength and power while breastfeeding their babies. All of them like an image of Mother Earth herself. These photographs are inspired by the most natural bond in the world between a mother and the child referring back to the history of art at the same time. The incredible strength and simultaneous vulnerability women can be overwhelmed by in becoming a mother, the timeless care and the urge to protect. The feeling of suddenly being willing to die for another human being because one is endowed with the strongest weapon - Love, unconditional love.

At the same time the project is a tribute to the beautiful complex, natural and strong female body that provides both life and nourishment, and which deserves respect, support and protection. We need to be exposed to the natural shapes, to life as it is and to show difference and alikeness and how we all are connected.

The whole project was photographed during the first Covid-year 2020 when we all had to limit human contact. Perhaps this was a blessing in disguise allowing me to invite women to my studio for an intimate session to be part of this project.
