Pacific: the illusion of being here.

It's been eight months since I moved to New Caledonia, where I have taken my camera up on a new series. Through these pictures, I wish to convey the first impressions I've had on this land, with an approach mainly based on the notion of mirage.

Indeed, I have been quickly confronted with the immensity of the Pacific Ocean, the intensity of a light glowing and radiating like nowhere else in the world; offering glimpses on the varying patches of blues, greens, pearly pinks and grays, or even beiges, held by the strength of the wind.

This layering of colors, these islets that seem to be floating on the lagoon, these reefs emerging here and there, all give the impression of coming into existence and vanishing just as quickly, the impression of unreality.

I am attempting to translate the power of the elements, a hypnotic attraction, through the production of images exploring the deep roots of this magical, incandescent world, in which one can reflect, as in a mirror, on the illusion of being here.
