In Tunisia homosexuality and transexuality are still considered an offense under the Penal Code, art. 230, and punished with prison.

Homosexuals and transgender people are discriminated and suffer even in public places, violences and aggression.

When they undergo anal test and in prison, many say, they suffered abuse and all kinds of violences.

Most of them are arrested because wearing makeup and have lipstick on or are dressed like women and they are sent to jail for "indecency".

The LGBT tunisian Associacion "Shams" for the depenalisation of homosexuality, ask to abolish article 230 of the Criminal Code, an article criminalizing homosexuality, and articles 226 bis, 228 and 231 on indecent assault, soliciting and prostitution as a sword Damocles on homosexuals.
