‘G146’ documents the lives of artists emerging from Glasgow’s rising rap music scene, specifically those associated with Stüdio111, located in the East End of the city.

The project is led by a 316 page book that features photos of the artists taken over the course of a year, as well as interviews that provide an insight into their work and lives. The aim of the photography was to provide a raw, documentary-style exploration of the artists working behind the scenes, showing aspects of their lives that the public normally don't get to see, as well as displaying the key locations, environments and milestone moments through their own individual, and intertwined, journeys. The photos were shot on film to reflect the DIY nature of the upcoming scene.

The visual identity of the project, such as the cover symbol, custom binding screws, colour and material choices, were inspired by the history and architecture of the Crownpoint building (where Stüdio111 is situated) which originally operated as John Lyle & Co’s carpet factory.

G146 aims to provide a platform for upcoming artists to share their stories and be introduced to new audiences.

The book includes an additional foreword section in conversation with American rapper/producer FTB XAN, discussing his own journey as an artist and the rise of the Plugg movement during the 2010s; looking into how local scenes become global movements.
