Forensics of the Mundane is an ongoing series exploring the daily use of shared living space and everyday objects. For the series, the artist chose busy volunteer families; then, with permission, documented the traces they left of themselves in their homes using diy forensics techniques such as fingerprinting and the collection of other evidence such as hair and skin cells to discover what spaces and objects were most used and cherished in their lives. Using a combination of conventional digital, mobile, and microscopic photography as well as photomanipulation techniques she creates a layered experience of abstract and figurative images which haunt the viewer with trace narratives of strangers’ lives well-lived, even as the individuals themselves are missing from view.
