An exploration, driven by memory, story, and emotion, of the remote part of New Zealand that was once home.

In April 2022 I finally returned to New Zealand after several years overseas and spent the last week of my father's life sitting with him, listening to his stories, many for the first time, and rediscovering both our family and the remote part of NZ where our family began, the West Coast.

These stories, memories, and images became a reason to return to this place, a treasure map. Using the houses we lived in, the people we knew once, the recollection of a place or event, I spent a week chasing our past, digging wherever it led.

This week's work just scratched the surface of this journey, so I intend to return and keep digging.
