This series of self-portraits was created at home in Milan between November 2020 and March 2021 due to the restrictions on personal freedom for the second wave of the pandemic. The lockdown had changed my perception of space and time. I was aware my mind had been saturated with news, talk shows and TV series in an attempt to stay connected to reality . Days were marked by banal rituals where food worked as a reward. To overcome monotony and loneliness I planned to make fun of my frustrating experiences using as masks paper reproductions of ceramics by the artist Piero Fornasetti (1913-1988). No special effects, nothing but myself and my willingness to resist through the introspection and passion for staging that has been fascinating me since childhood. In this way what were just days of endless waiting became a joyful dream experience. I owe everything to the iconic series of ceramics inspired by the face of the opera singer Lina Cavalieri (1875-1944) defined as "the most beautiful woman in the world".
