Cecilia Vidal PHmuseum Limited Edition Print
(Montevideo, 1989) Cecilia is a photographer and educator, she holds a master in Photography, Art and Technique from the Polytechnic University of Valencia.
Her work “Apenas Tarde” was published this year by Mostra Test (Spain), and Tabla Rasa (Uruguayan photography publication), and was selected for Montevideo Visual Arts Salon in 2019. In 2016 she won the CdF (Centro de Fotografía de Montevideo) Latin American Photobook Award for her work "Boira", published the same year.
She has participated in festivals and exhibitions in Latin America and Europe amongst those she shown her work at Versazca Photo Festival (2018); Episodios. Fotografia Uruguaiana Contemporanea, in Instituto Cervantes di Roma (2019); Episodes in Photology, Pueblo Garzón (2018); BOOKI, Festival of the printed photography book, in Poznań, Poland; Pretexto, in Montevideo Photography Center (2018), and The story of the origins, in the Museum of Pre-Columbian and Indigenous Art (MAPI).
This image is part of a work called "Homes and remains", a series of photographs of small plaster sculptures that I built, of houses, pieces of stairs, beds and other isolated structures. They are images around the idea of home, distance and what remains of a house when we leave it. A ruin remains in our memory as much as a monument. This is a work in progress that started in 2019 when I was living in Spain.
