Peripheral Vision

Ivan Kardashev

2012 - Ongoing

Peripheral Vision is the audio-visual work at the intersection of personal documentary and experimental electronic music. It explores the interaction of images and sound in order to create the immersive space, assuming direct and intimate contact with the visuals. The name of the project is the metaphor for the ability to see and perceive beyond the surface of the world.

This work consists of three independent parts, shot by three different artists. Dealing with trauma through a long period of time. Personal transformations related to motherhood. Experiencing love, desire, anxiety, curiosity and admiration in relationships, but also comprehension and search for new meanings beyond the primary layer of pictures. Each part of the is the excerpt from the long-term personal documentary project, and tells the story of experiencing changes — through a non-conformal and poetic gaze.
