Portraits Of A Nation

Born and raised in Tanzania but of Scottish/Italian descent and not eligible for a Tanzanian citizenship I have long had a creative obsession with national and individual identity. Part photographic project, part anthropological exploration I have long harbored an ambition to document as many of Tanzanias people in the form of simple, unobstructed portraits, with the eventual goal of a published coffee table book and exhibition. It all began a couple of years ago whilst shooting a documentary at an orphanage on the foothills of Mt. Kilimanjaro, the Nuns and the young orphans were willing subjects. Progress on the project has been intermittent as it is self funded and needs financing to move forward.
