Since 2012 PHmuseum aims to stimulate, support, and empower the work of the new generation of photographers. Its grants program is the main channel through which its team and many curators and photo editors worldwide discover new projects and start collaborations. In this context, Intersection - PHmuseum Exhibition Prize is a new open call aimed at offering visibility to authors while developing new connections between photographers and artistic institutions. The prize recipient will benefit indeed of an important opportunity to work side by side with a team of experts, following the show production, from an original curatorial idea to the printing and installation process. Year after year, thanks to this open call PHmuseum aims to introduce many photographers to display their work in physical spaces, while developing new strategies of promotion, and making a relevant personal experience.

For this first edition, PHmuseum will work in close collaboration with Fonderia 20.9, a dynamic artist-run space dealing with contemporary photography. The organisation has multifunctional soul as they feature fine-art printing facilities, a projection room, and a selected art library on top of their gallery. In the five years of its life, the gallery has hosted over 20 exhibitions showcasing artists such as Carlotta Cardana, Piergiorgio Casotti, Mattia Balsamini, Rafal Milach, Mariela Sancari, Olga Bushkova, Helene Bellenger and Massimo Mastrorillo. They have also collaborated with various institutions such as Cortona On The Move, Fotoforum, T14 Contemporary, Le Bleu du Ciel-Centre de photographie contemporaine, Gallerie Intervalle, LeBoudoir. Fonderia 20.9 is also part of the curatorial board of SÅM, a cultural project in collaboration with the “Film Festival Della Lessinia”.

Its co-founders Chiara Bandino and Francesco Biasi, together with Argentinian photographer Mariela Sancari and PHmuseum's Director Giuseppe Oliverio and Curator Rocco Venezia will select a project to exhibit in Verona, in June 2021. A budget of €1,000 will cover the production, curatorial, and travel expenses, while accommodation and food will be provided during the stay. If the photographer comes from outside EU, PHmuseum will offer further €500 to cover the travel expenses. To apply to Intersection Vol.1, authors are invited to submit one or more projects dealing with a specific theme, narrative, or concept with a cohesive and solid approach that challenges the medium. All approaches are welcomed, from classic narratives to experimental projects. Authors need to create an account or log in and upload between 6 and 20 photos and include a short bio and the project's abstract. The entry is free for the first submission, and $20 for the following.

The final deadline is set for 15 December 2020. Learn more and apply at phmuseum.com/is1.
