The Howard Chapnick Grant, Firecracker Photographic Grant, International Photography Award Emergentes DST, and ACCIONA Sustainability Photography Prize are the most exciting competitions open for submissions this month. Read on to find out more.

2016 Firecracker Photographic Grant

(2014 Firecracker Photographic Grant recipient)

The annual Firecracker Photographic Grant is designed to finance and support the development of a visual documentary project. "Receiving the Firecracker grant was a huge endorsement for me and for a piece of work I'd been struggling to find the right platform for. The award gave the work great visibility and the grant itself was instrumental in the final stages of bringing the work together as a book” says British photographer Jo Metson Scott, the inaugural FPG recipient. The prize fund includes a minimum of £1000 to help with the creation of a series, and £1000 credit with Genesis Imaging for professional printing, mounting, and framing. The competition is open solely to female photographers born, or currently living in, Europe. All submissions will be reviewed by an independent jury, comprised of such industry specialists as Chloe Dewe Mathews (prominent photographer) and Eleanor Macnair (artist and PR specialist). Deadline: July 31st. Winner to be announced on September 1st.

International Photography Award Emergentes DST

Organized by Encontros da Imagem, the International Photography Award Emergentes DST offers an opportunity for both emerging and established photographers to present their work to leading figures in the industry. The overall winner will receive a €7,500 endowment and an individual exhibition at the next edition of Encontros da Imagem festival. Submissions must be sent by July 24th.
