How to Apply for the PhMuseum 2023/24 Online Masterclasses Scholarship

Our international programs Folio, Criticae, Curae, and Mediae are held by the industry's top experts, and facilitate the exchange between an international community of students. Apply before May 19 to access the full scholarships, covering all costs.

PhMuseum's enhanced International Online Education Programme is intended to help you advance your expertise and establish a solid, long-lasting creative practice. For the first time, we are simultaneously presenting four different masterclasses, with each program offering one full scholarship that will enable a participant to attend for free.

The scholarship selection process is highly competitive, and based on several criteria. These include the quality and originality of applicants' portfolios and project proposals, as well as their personal commitment. The purpose of the scholarship is not only to provide financial support for the recipient, but also to foster a community of creators exploring important issues, and creating meaningful work. This is why we prepared a short guide aimed at helping you with the application process, from eligibility requirements to the materials you'll need to submit.

1. Take your time to read through the four different programs carefully to ensure that you get a sense of their strengths and differences. Consider the focus of each Masterclass and how your personal interests and experiences can align with it. Remember that you can apply and attend one or more programs.

2. Make sure that you have a strong reason for wanting to participate in one of the masterclasses. Express it in your motivational paragraph where, other than introducing yourself, you should address why you need the scholarship, and how you can benefit from attending the program.

3. Prepare a portfolio that showcases your previous work, including any relevant projects that you have completed in the past and any new ideas you wish to develop during the program. Please share a link to your website or a Drive/Dropbox folder, something that can be viewed at any time. Please do not send any time-limited links, as it will take us some time to review all the applications.

4. Get familiar with past participants to get a better understanding of what the program is like and what kind of work has been developed there so far. While Mediae is brand new and Curae is at its 2nd edition, you can discover final presentations from Folio and Criticae on PhMuseum YouTube Channel.

5. Be sure to meet the application requirements and submit by the deadline set for Friday 19 May

6. If you are selected for the scholarship, be sure to stay engaged with the program and take advantage of all the opportunities it provides.

7. Remember that the selection process can be competitive, so don't be discouraged if you don't get accepted on your first try. All applications submitted for the scholarship will be automatically eligible for the Early Bird Fee of €1650, making you save €350 on the full price.

8. Consider how you would finance your participation in the Masterclass if you do not receive the scholarship, and prepare accordingly. We can provide you with a supporting letter in case you wish to apply for any external funding
