The inaugural weekend starts this Thursday with exhibitions, portfolio reviews, workshops, artist talks, and much more.

From Thursday until Sunday, Cortona OTM will bring together photographers, photo editors, curators and other recognised professionals of the industry to inaugurate its sixth edition in the heart of Tuscany.

The main program this year is richer than ever. Arianna Rinaldo, who has been leading the curatorial vision of the festival since 2013, together with the festival executive director Antonio Carloni and their team will present a great selection of contemporary projects and archive material.

The primary exhibitions include a retrospective on Magnum photographer Larry Towell; It's What I Do, a show featuring the work of photojournalist Lynsey Addario exploring several contemporary issues she has covered during her career in Africa and in the Middle East; Family Love by Darcy Padilla, developed out of her stories examining AIDS; The Heavens by Paolo Woods and Gabriele Galimberti, who documented the dynamics of 13 tax havens and their great strategic importance for the globalised financial world; and Futuristic Archeology by Daesung Lee, the 2015 Happiness On The Move prize winner focusing on the effects of climate change.

The OFF circuit will present the work of the five finalists: Anna Filipova, Gabriele DuchiGiulia Mangione, Christian Werner and Sandra Hoyn, who were selected from more than 1,100 applicants.

Cortona OTM is also a great occasion to meet professionals working in the photography industry in first person. Here you can find all the information about portfolio reviews, and below you can view a list of international readers that will be available between July 15-16:

PHmuseum will also be attending the festival with its founder, Giuseppe Oliverio, who will present the new features of the platform and the projects for 2017. The talk will be held on Saturday 16th at 3pm at Palazzo Ferretti.

And finally, the long opening weekend will feature a series of events every night. A dinner in the main square on Thursday (starting at 9.30pm - price 30€), a dinner in the Fortezza del Girifalco on Friday (9.30pm - price 30€) and a party to celebrate 10 years of the Italian photo collective Terra Project on Saturday.
