The mud where the feet are

Matthieu Croizier

2019 - Ongoing

Lausanne, Vaud, Switzerland

I'm interested here in the monster issue. The freak is the one that is exhibited, the opposite of which we must distance ourselves: we exhibit the abnormal to reinforce the normal. By using self-representation, I identify with freaks and try to reveal a

monstrosity lurking all around us. As the norm is built by the image of monstrosity, I build my own monsters and my own standard, by revealing traces and clues of this construction. I refuse to look at the abnormal to feel normal. I explore my own darkness and questions the boundary between the monster and the wonderful, between what pushes back and what fascinates.
