Icebreaker Frej

“Ok, this is just another day in paradise,” says every morning Mats Jansson, the bosun on the swedish icebreaker Frej. There is happiness onboard. Ice for them

is like another planet, the one where they live, proud of the scandinavian cold weather. They love their job, because they feel like they are between a child getting pleasure from ruining sand castles and a fireman responding to emergency calls for people in need of help. This powerful ship, sailing from Örnsköldsvik to Luleå, assists international shipping to reach ports in the northern section of the Bay of Bothnia, across seas which are often frozen for six months a year.
