Saving fire for darker days

I have been born and raised in a small village in the north of the country, and I wanted to explore this roots that influenced my life and defined me as a person.

Women have here a fundamental role, being always associated with the idea of independence, strength, resistance. They are the motor of the family, often developing activities normally associated with men, motivated, in part, by the emigration factor. The men went to foreign and the women stayed with their family, home and work.

The project focusses on the mother archetype. Basing my work on my closest references, I explore common gestures, postures, and characteristics related to time and place. Saving fire for darker days also examines the concept of mother as an element, mother-earth, and mother-nature.
