'Bone Foam' brings together work produced over more than a decade in the rural areas of Alto Minho, northern Portugal, where my family has always lived and where I grew up.

Bone Foam

There is a pagan and earthly dimension that hovers over all things and cannot be ignored. The earth is touched by the whole body. By invoking my ancestry, familial, physical, spiritual - the place from where we start - I understand, the cycles get closer.

Leakage

I come to the summits’ challenge, to the solidity of names, I say mountain and my body reacts I say, as a cradling place, a premature memory, a slap.

The project focusses on the mother archetype. Basing my work on my closest references, I explore common gestures, postures, and characteristics related to time and place. Saving fire for darker days also examines the concept of mother as an element, mother-earth, and mother-nature.
