Fire Effects

Photographer’s Foreword

The Woolsey Fire of 2018 affected the lives of many families and animals along the Southern California Coast. The fire burned 96,949 acres of land, destroyed 1,643 structures, and forced the evacuation of more than 295,000 people. In this book, I am exploring the remnants of a destroyed civilization, and the skeletons of the life and world which once existed across the charred landscape.

Through my photography I capture the details of a world consumed by the forces of nature, shedding light on the impermanence of all things in the grand scheme of time.

To contrast this, I photograph people in nature, representing new beginnings in an evolving environment.
