Man is the measure of all things departs from the humans urge to control and measure nature.
It’s a question of contemplation, but also admiration, research and merging in.
By using a mathematic formula, one can count the height of the mountains by using a human being as a measurement tool.
Human being’s various needs are merged in these photographs: at the same time man wants to become one with the nature, and at the same time man has the will to control, measure, understand and explain the nature.
The photos in the series are presented as diptychs, as part of the scientific method of verifying the result by another measurement.
Original concept developed by Photographer Lasse Lecklin together with Geologist Samuel Faucherre, Molecular Biologist Mari Walquist and Sculptor April Martin.
