Fragments of an Altered Industrial Landscape

Kristin Schnell

2017 - Ongoing

This series is taken in a part of Eastern Germany, where the cole minings are closed and the government is trying to recultivate the nature .

They are aiming to turn the empty landscape into a tourist area, however there is not a bird nor a fish to be found.

The series aims to highlight the unconventional, yet fascinating characteristics of a landscape that is finding its own , unexpected way of coping with these longstanding interventions; abnormal colour tones and formations can be spotted.

Moreover the photographs aim to highlight the relationship between humans and nature and the ironic harmony of each other`s emergence. This is the reason why the individuals as the "creator" are depicted naked as a sign of vulnerability opposed to nature`s vulnerability and endurance.
