Heavenly Bodies

I often take pictures of female subjects with body types that aren’t normally featured in photography. I frequently frame these subjects in a natural environment or fine art context (e.g., by portraying them as sculptures in a museum, paintings, etc.) not only in an effort to halt the viewer from making an immediate sexual value judgment, but to hopefully open the door for the viewer to find aesthetic interest in the geometry and textures that make the models’ bodies unique.

I am also interested in challenging the concept of photography as a modernist medium through creating images that are not only inspired by the sculptural, painting and plastic arts, but are approached as if they were created in a different medium altogether. The camera is merely only one of the materials used.
