General Info

The PHmuseum Women Photographers Grant, now in its 5th edition, aims to empower the work and careers of female and non-binary professionals of all ages and from all countries working in diverse areas of photography. Its mission is to support the growth of the new generations and promote stories narrated from a female perspective, while responding to the need to work for gender equality in the industry.

To participate, you are invited to submit one or more projects centred around a specific theme, narrative or concept. All approaches are welcome from classic to more experimental projects, and you can present more than one work. By applying you retain full copyright or your images at all times, and we’ll ask for your permission to share them on our social media channels.

The judging will happen between October and November with the shortlist to be announced just before Photo Vogue Festival. Thanks for considering this opportunity and good luck with your applications!

I would encourage any woman with a strong commitment to long form visual narratives and a desire for independence to apply for grants like the PHMuseum Women’s Grant. It’s an opportunity to have financial support in doing work you are deeply committed to and issues you believe must be highlighted. Laura El-Tantawy, 1st Prize, PHM 2020 Women Photographers Grant

I have been very grateful to receive this award and recognition for my work. It helped me to continue with the project in the Amazon and to create more photos. On a large scale, it made my photos more visible around the world, my message seen and appreciated. And on a smaller or inner scale, it helped me feel confident in what I am doing. Receiving the New Generation Prize was such an encouraging moment for me because it was my first international honour ever. Moreover, the pandemic has made being an African artist extremely difficult so winning the award helped to fund my living expenses and practice at the same time, it also served as an important form of validation that I should keep doing my work.
