Photographed using a decisive and bold aesthetic strategy, the industry of the global arms trade comes across as banal and even humorous, yet this series of images contains a more sinister undertone suggested by deliberately obscuring any identifiable actors – often literally by the weaponry itself. The anonymity, privatisation and corruption of this industry is underlined by this simple yet effective and consistent aesthetic gesture, which is what makes this work so appealing. Judge Max Pinckers, on Nikita Teryoshin’s Nothing Personal
